No, you have blood under the nail, I could be there for months and eventually grow out as you nail grows.

You might have broken it You could get it x-rayed to confirm whether it is broken or not. And guess what they'll just send you home. Toes are very rarely splinted and bandaged. They usually will suggest, you go home and lie down,& that nature heals it. It may swell up so get a good pair of sandles to wear. Ones that do not contact that toe. The coloration will eventually fade to yellow and disappear. Providing the nail falls off. It usually does but grows back. If it does not fall off then the color will disappear as you trim your nail. The color is blood breakdown products. (i.e bile salts derived from breaking down hsemaglobin of the blood.),(they are a colorful group of chemicals, and account for skin bruise colors too.)
It will hurt but it gets less painful in a little time. Use a painkiller.
There is one reason to go the hospital. And that is if the toe becomes infected. If it does it probably get more painful, it may swell more, but most commonly, fluid will seep from the edges. If you see any of that, especially the fluid, go to a doctor as soon as possible. A neglected infection could become life threatening in a few days.
Good luck

Hi owch, you could of just badly bruised your toe, but if it is really painful you could well of broke it, i would recommend making a doctors appoinment, or seen as though its the weekend go to the hospital, you might need an xray. If its swollen put a cold compress on it , id do this anyway, n strap it to the other toe to stop it moving. Hope your toe gets better soon

no it is not broken. nothing sérious , a bruise ,it 's aching a lot because of the pressure of the blood against the nail; if you don't want your nail to fell, you can just warm a needle with a lighter and put it on the nail in order to make a hole which will let the blood go and avoid the aching pressure on nail !it seems very creepy but it works! dont forget to use some desinfectant!!

Possibly but possibly not. It could be badly bruised.

My friend broke her toe and spent several hours at casualty to be told they don't do anything for broken toes. So it might be a case of wait and see.

I it is possible that you broke your toe but only an X-ray can tell. It is purple 'cuz there are damaged tissues and that is called a bruise!

I had it once, the whole of the toe nail eventually comes off and smells horrid. Don't worry, it grows back.

Have fun :)
