I worked as a special education assistant in California, and I made $630 a month working part time, 3 1/2 hours per day in the mornings.
Regular classroom assistants made less, and people who worked with the severely disabled students made more.

In the state of the Idaho the answer would be: very little. More specifically, $7 - $12 an hour depending on the district, your years of experience, and your level of education.

It really depends on where you are and the training that you have. In our school district in Northern NH you can start out at $9.60 and make as much as $14.26 depending on how much experience and what you have for education. It is a great job!
