I do it too, and I'm Asian. My husband is caucasian and he says it's a cultural thing. It might be because we use thong slippers and sandals, and to keep them from flying off our feet while we run or walk, we drag it. I grew up running around in thong sandals, in the summer, when school is out and on weekends when we're playing outside. That's the only explanation I can think of.

The same thing is available in your community as also in other communities, if you watch properly. That is not the culture but they have not been taught in childhood by their parents as to how to take steps while walking.

It is cultural. They have worn thongs (flip-flops) on their feet for years. Even if you wear them for just a short period, you will drag too.

I hate walking behind them, especially when I have somewhere to be and a gang of them taking up the whole sidewalk. "Moooove!"

the same reason why whites slouch their backs when they walk. or why blacks swing their arms when they walk, and why Mexicans blow their nose with their fingers. its all part of revolution.
