Whether as a result of race, sex, sexual preference, age, nation of origin, your culture, the language you speak or anything else, prejudice is an ignorant and hateful response to something perceived as "different" from the so called norm of a given group. Prejudice exists throughout the world and is expressed against a variety of different kinds of people. For example, in the US for a long time, the skinny women are thought to be the best and fat women are discriminated against and looked down upon. There are, however, some cultures where fat women are revered. This is but on example..there are many. The reason is also the same: ignorance and hate. And...fear! People are afraid to have things diferently from, "the way I was brought up." They don't realize how miserable their thinking makes them and that by opening their mind to new possibilities, they may learn how to achieve a happy and satifying life.

Here's another 'prejudice' that we don't discuss enuf, (wasn't included in your list of common differences)
to generate more awareness of, and positive change. . .

"Step-Family" or adopted family ---

This prejudice training may begin very early in one's life, and definitely has an effect thru-out the rest of one's lifetime. . .

Yes, I am an American white male, straight..There is no special interest group for me, I am a minority, Only 6% of the whole world is like me...can you say that. No one looking to see if there is food in my home, no one to see if i got the job I applied for, no one asking if I can walk down the street at night. no one asking me if I was treated fairly by business, government, schools, public transportation, land lord's..All they want from me is my taxes, donation's, and labor. I hate no one based on there anything. In 30 years I have never ever been in a business or other wise where some one was excluded because of any reason you have listed above. Business is in business for one reason to make money, they are going to go with the person that gives them the greatest advantage. So anyone who thinks they are discriminated against, they probably have been. Ask the white man or women that gets stopped coming out of a neighborhood that known for drug trafficking, ask the overweight man or women in the night club. Ya every breathing person has been, 99.9% of us don't have it in our nature, but we do have the basic human right to choose who we associate with, and you are such a whiner, people choose not to be around you. That's not discrimination, that's just choosing your friends.

My brother in law is aboriginal and alot of people that come and stay with us are aboriginal or islander. I was lucky to have been brought up not seeing colours but seeing people. I have met great people with different looks, language and sexuality.
Now i could not imagine my life without most of them.
In my eyes people that dont except other people for those reasons are missing out and making GREAT people feel bad and lost. Is that really how rasist and sexist ppl want to live? well their the ones missing out and they are the people that should be cast as different n weird in my books

Yes, when I took a State Troopers test and scored a 93, but did not get the job because the department in that state had to fill the job with so many # of blacks for that year. They only had to score a 76 to be considered.

Being a woman is reason enough to be discriminated against. I'm not supposed to be very smart. I'm supposed to be thankful that a guy wants to take care of me. I should get coffee for my boss. I am the one who is responsible for cleaning the house, raising the kids by myself, and making all of the decisions. I should pay all of the bills, and be nice to my husband because he works hard all day...

I'm tired of people forcing their PC ethnicity upon others. "You didn't hire me because I'm a.... (Insert race here)!" No, I didn't hire you because you are unqualified for the position. When people blame things on race, they do themselves harm. A scientist is a scientist, a doctor is a doctor. Race has nothing to do with your abilities. Only when we look beyond race will we begin to see the potential within each of us. My neighbor things the government "owes him" money because his ancestors were brought here as slaves. My ancestors were starving in Ireland, am I going to sue the UK? No! The past is prologue Learn from it, then put it behind you and move on.

Yes, I've been discriminated against and I was actually confused at first.

However,I was taught no matter where you go you'll always find someone who hates you for something and it may not be the color of one's skin.It could be anything complex or simplicit.

But yes, ignorance and hate are the ones to blame.
