First how did you check to see if you indeed had no spark. Assuming you are correct the next question is how old is your mower? The older ones have points and may need to be replaced. Otherwise check to wire for conductivity with a VOM meter. You should not have more than 40,000 ohms resistance. If more than that replace the spark plug wire wire.

How old is the mower,
thinking the mower is a newer vesion you have a safety handle that is a stop blade lever This is out of adjustment.
This will be at the handle and you have to pull it down and hold to crank. This is a very hard spring on the side of the motor.
As you pull the handle back put some tension on this connection to the back of the mower twoards the handle , If it cranks you need to take up the slack in that cable, if not take it to a repairman

Did you hit a rock? The "woodruff key" that holds the magneto in place may have sheared and your mower may be out of time. This is also a good item to check (if after a few months of use and several rock hits) your mower becomes hard to start.
A new spark plug couldn't hurt. And some fresh gas. Old gas won't burn right.

First off, the magneto is held in place with two little screws.... if you hit anything with the mower..... and the key shears, it'll be off timing, but will still get spark... the mag doesn't move.....
Pull the kill wire off the coil, try again..... if you get spark, its one of your kill switches..... if not, its the coil..... but yeah try a new spark plug just in case.
Btw, are you using the pull the plug out, put it back in the wire and turning the engine over fast and check for a blue snap right?

If your mower has some kind of on off switch, make sure it isn't grounding out, this will kill the spark too.

First, check the spark plug and replace if needed. Other wise, something is blocking the firing and needs to go to the repairman.
