There seems to be 2 largest islands in Austraila.....good luck!

Tasmania, located off the southeastern coast of mainland Australia, covers 26,383 square miles (68,332 square kilometers). Tasmania's tallest peak is Mt. Ossa, which is 5,305 feet (1,617 m) above sea level. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/school/Australia/Ausmap.shtml

Shark Bay, the largest island in Australia, is a World Heritage Area located in the Western part of the country. It was listed as a World Heritage Area in December, 1991, one of only 14 places in the world.

Greenland is the largest island in the world. Its northerly location, at the point where the Atlantic meets the Arctic Ocean, means that Greenland is surrounded principally by cold ocean currents, so the coasts are constantly being cooled. This, combined with the radiation of cold from the inland ice, gives Greenland its arctic climate.
The ice cap or inland ice covers 1,833,900 square km, equivalent to 85 percent of Greenland's total area, and extends 2,500 km (1,553 miles) from north to south and up to 1,000 km from east to west. http://www.geographia.com/denmark/greenland.html

Australia is largest by a long way (if you count it as an island and not a continent).

Australia = 7,741,220 km^2
Greenland = 2,175,600 km^2

the classification of "island" is kinda dumb since if you zoom out enough, even Eurasiafrica (my word) is surrounded by water. i believe the answer is greenland.
richard w is completely wrong, no one considers greenland a continent.

Neither one. They're both considered continents and a continent isn't an island.
