How long have you been dieting and exercising? It sounds like you may have hit a plateau. Where your not gaining or losing just staying the same. Be patient with your body. Continue your daily or weekly routines. Perhaps mix them up a bit. Do the exercises differently at different times of the day. Or find a completely different exercise to do and work on that one.
Our bodies all work in different ways. Some people can naturally lose weight with no problem, while others can't.
If you still have a problem losing the 40 pounds after a month, go see your doctor. He or she may have some helpful tips for you!
Good luck and hang in there!

If you have really been sticking to your diets (honestly) you might have some metabolic or other disorder. Hypothyroid can cause slow metabolism, diabetes, and other disorders also can affect your ability to lose weight. Go to you doctor and tell him this. Tell him you want thyroid functioning tests, and he might even order more tests. You can also find out your blood type because there is such a thing as the blood type diet book. It will tell you what foods to eat for your particular blood type. This might help too. You probably should exercise along with dieting also.

eat special k(cereal)- it is good and makes you look skinnier in 2 weeks but dont stop until you are satisfied with your waste. run 2 miles every other day or one mile everyday. clean your house or vacume every 3 days, it is a lot of work and is great excersise. get a job to keep you off the computer or tv. clean out your fridge. keep everything under 150cals and 150 sodium and drink 2% milk. even running up and down stairs helps
