When lifting to gain muscle mass, you need to do heaveier weights with fewer reps, so do a weight that you can get really tired doing 8 reps on. Also, do a little cardio warm up but not long, you will burn too many calories. You should also look into getting some more protein into your diet, go to GNC and see what they recommend for building muscle.

working twice a day will only burn you out. you can work out everyday but alternate between upper and lower body workouts. this way it'll give your muscles time to heal before blasting them again. eat lots of protein and red meats. don't forget your cardio exercises as well. being big ain't gonna help you in football if you can only play 10 minutes at a time. bulking up, might wanna invest in some whey protein or protein shakes from your local GNC or vitamin world. this will help add some bulk to you quickly and your workouts should balance everything out. since you want bigger not leaner, very heavy weights with lower reps and cycles. instead of 10 reps @ 100 pounds, try 150 or 175 pounds at 5-6 reps. eventually as you get stronger you'll be able to up the reps. again alternate lower and upper body workouts and in a couple of months you should be back where you want to be
