From the manner in which you phrase your question, I'll be you are looking for an answer along the lines of, "Only if we elect a Democrat."

However, I submit this: The framers of the Constitution were much smarter and wiser than the likes of you. Not only will it survive, it grows stronger with each passing day. The basic freedoms and liberties that Americans have ALWAYS enjoyed are still there.

Are you one of those that cries, "Bush is taking away my liberties!" I CHALLENGE you to show me one liberty that has been taken away.

* You OBVIOUSLY still have the right of free speech and use it to criticize the government - yet you are not in jail.
* You still have the right to worship or not worship as you choose - even though the President is a strong Christian.
* The press still has the right to print what they want without government interference - even though they (read: New York Times) disclose government secrets that endanger the lives of our soldiers without batting an eye.
* Soldiers are not quartered in our houses.
* You still have the right to own firearms and keep them in your house.

Tell me what rights you no longer have.

The two big programs which President Bush has been criticized for as having taken away rights - the "domestic spying program" and the "financial reporting program" - have taken away no rights from anyone. Consider:

The "domestic spying program" - which monitored traffic between people in the United States and people with suspected links to terror OUTSIDE the United States - was responsible for stopping the 2003 terror attack on the New York City subway system. Even Democrat liberal Senator Diane Feinstein admitted so.

The "financial reporting program" - which monitored large transactions between people in the United States and people with suspected links to terror OUTSIDE the United States - was responsible for catching the terrorists who committed the series of bombings in Bali targeting Australian citizens a couple of years back.

Tell me how either one of these programs takes away your rights? Short answer is that they don't. What they have done is protect and save the lives of an untold number of innocents around the world.

You liberals criticized President Bush for not doing enough to protect America after 9/11. Now that you have found out that he was, indeed, doing something VERY proactive (and legal), you cry that he is going to far. Yet, there has not been another terror attack on US soil since 9/11 - and several have been stopped.

Which is it? Do you want to be protected from Islamo-facists, or do you want to be left out in the open for the terrorists to kill at will.

Make up your mind.

Your question clearly stakes out your position as it pertains to the Bush government. People who feel so strongly/negatively about a position will seldom listen to an opposing position - no matter how reasonable. So, in the future, I suggest you approach matters, such as this, with an open mind. That way, you will get responses that further the discussion rather than ones that attempt to criticize or negate your assumed position. But to answer your question anyway, I say that the US Constitution is probably the best self-determination document ever written. So, yes, it will survive even a "big business/war loving government".

It's survived much worse governments. It was designed to survive the short-term whims of sitting governments, whether they be war-loving or socialist or whatever. Have you noticed that we haven't amended the constitution lately? That should tell you something.

The problem is not the war or loving business. The problem is that Republicans believe only they should govern and anything they do, legal or not, to stay in power is not only OK, but patriotic. This is very different from the past, and it is not only Republicans who think this way.

The Constitution actually promotes capitalism and national defense. So, yes, absolutely it will "survive."

Who is it that you thinks gives you your paycheck? Big businesses? Directly or indirectly "the evil big business" funds your lifestyle...if you even have a job.
