Speaking philosophically, there is no truly altruistic act. Even if you do something without any kind of gain, you will get satisfaction out of doing something good. For example, anonymous donations...no one will even know you gave the money, no one will thank you, and your name will not be mentioned anywhere, but you know you've done something good, and that's your reward.

But that may not be really answering your question. Yes, people can care about one another, but there will always be a reward in doing so.

yes,i care for all things,even people...you do not have to like the shell a person wears or the spirit with in,yet,you can still care about them,as humans we all have this in common,we are love by someone,our parents our children or spouses,and all people,no matter how bad,want to be happy.so these things about them,we can care for.-

Absolutely. Just observe the amount of times someone opens a door for someone that is carrying a baby carrier.

That's not mechanical "gotta do it". It's caring.

Absolutely, if they couldn't then the world would be in constant fighting, and every person would be working for him-/her-self and no one else. this wouldn't even be war, it would be chaos, because no one could cooperate.
