People have been pondering this for centuries. You think someone on freaking Yahoo Answers will have an answer to The Big Question?

This is my belief:

We are here so that God can experience God's self.

God is absolute. In this state there are no contradictions and no relativity. Everything is constant, absolute.

God knows what God is, but the knowing of a thing and the experiencing of it are two entirely different things. For example you know what ice cream is, but experiencing the taste of it is different (and SO much better) than just intellectually knowing that it is frozen cream and sugar.

God created life as we know it so that God could experience God's self in the world of relativity through us, who are each an individuation of the whole.

God does not judge us for our actions...after this physical incarnation ends we will return to the spiritual dimension and decide if we want to stay or experience another physical incarnation. This is how we serve God.

If you ask a cat how many galaxies are there in space and it can answer accurately, then you have a chance to get an answer to your question among the 7 Billion brains that stalk this earth.
If you still don't believe me, go see what none-sense has been inherited by man all through the ages, religions, sciences, philosophy and civilizations, and dig for one logical and satisfactory answer to this question, that can be proved for fact.

Your questions imply that a conscious choice was made by someone to place humans in a particular place. Using that supposition, it is easy to answer. "Because we were not placed there" (indicating somewhere else)

If you are seeking a more philosophical answer, then you have to start with broadening your horizons and believe that all things were possible, such as the evolution of man is a psuedo-random event, in that it was not a conscious act on the part of another, but because key elements aligned themselves and it just happened.

Or you can choose to believe that a divine creator, by whatever name, has decided to strategically place US on this rock, similar to an artificial ant farm, and is guiding us through various machinations, etc.

An interesting host of possibilities..........

we are here to enjoy - to love, to seek and to find love - to be lonely, so we know how good it is to have company - to have pain, so we know how good it is not to have pain, to have ignorance so we know how good it is to know, to go through and make stories with our lives for ourselves to read, to have fun, to have fun learning, growing, creating, making mistakes, to have fun hollering, and doing a million things that are fun - to do all the good things you can do on earth and you cant do in heaven - have ups and downs, have triumphs, make an effort, go through things, experience confusion so it feels good when confusion stops, see things - because there is nothing to see in heaven - everything is one, and the one is infinite and has no surfacr for light to bounce off so you can see - we are here to expreeince separation, so we can experience unity and union and love - expereince the opposite of good so we can recognise and enjoy and experience good - so we can experience manyness, and toomanyness, and confusion adn chaos and hate and unhappiness, so that we can experience happiness - because everything is recognised through its opposite - so opposites need each other, support each other - experience fear of death so we can experience freedom from fear of death - so we can seem to be humans and limited and vulnerable and in danger so we can breathe a sigh of relief when we discover we are infinite and one and love and peace

every story has a bad bit - why? - because then it is fun - then there is tension, then there is excitement, and then the happy ending is good

we are here because we are story-mad, we love stories, and here we make millions of stories - no stories in heaven - everything is one, like fog in every direction forever
