I'm no expert, but as I understand it, cell phones are generally "locked" to a carrier. The only cell phones that can be "unlocked" (i.e., you can switch SIM cards between phones) use GSM technology. Cingular and T-Mobile use GSM.
Sprint/Nextel and, I believe, Verizon, use CDMA technology, which doesn't give you the option to unlock your phone and switch SIM cards. You have to buy a phone from Sprint/Nextel (or an authorized dealer) and they may have to provide you with a new SIM card.

Go to Nextel.com they give a list of phones in which the sim cards are compatible with each other...

no mine i couldnt because of the different features, but i had a 730 that wasnt a camera phone. this 870 id way different. i dont think you can
