Should only be used on outer area of ear, if at all.
If you push them too far in they irritate the inner ear causing more wax to be produced & can cause inflammation.
If you need your ears clearing see your practitioner.
To sum up, don't use them, a flannel is better and won't penetrate too far in to the ear.

After a recent visit to the local doctors,my wife asked a similar question and was recommended not to use 'cotton buds' as they can quite often push and compact more ear wax towards the drum and possibly cause more irritation.

They are supposed to be bad because they push the wax in even further.

Yes, I have never used them but I have used my finger to clean them but that is also bad apparently

no but dont put them too far as can damage your eardrums
