some people are threatened by a belief system that teaches strict values. they prefer to see things as shades of grey with no right or wrong. this allows them to do things that may not fit into a stricter set of morals

Excuse me...I am a liberal & I am not threatened by believers in faith. I have alot of faith & I do believe. Time we started thinking in terms of being human instead of putting labels on groups & then judging the group as a whole. We are individuals. We each have our own beliefs & ways about us. There are always exceptions to every rule in life. Don't judge the book by it's cover...it's what's inside that counts.

Liberals do not feel threatened by all believers in faith, be they Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, etc. Liberals by definition only feel threatened and ARE threatened by the radical Christian Right who would try and form a Theocracy in America, making Christian morals into Law. Very dangerous!

This question assumes that liberals are not believers in faith? This assumption is dead wrong. The appropriate thing to do here is retract the question then submit another one that makes sense. If your asking why people in general are threatened by people of faith which I assume you mean people who are religious, the answer would be that people who begin a conversation by identifying their religion often assume that they are superior to the person they are talking to. When in fact they are frequently mis-informed and uneducated people with a hidden agenda. These people pay little attention to what is actually going on in the world and the havok wrought by their representives in their name. They depend largely on news filtered through spin doctors and often only listen to fox news and religious programming. The most corrupt people in the world use religion as their smokescreen.

Liberals are not threatened by believers in "faith."
They feel personally threatened by believers in Christianity, however, because Christ makes exclusive claims to absolute truth and the "narrow gate" of forgiveness for sin. This is what makes many of them so angry. Liberals cannot accept any claim to absolute truth, nor can they abide the concept of moral sin that requires either repentance or God's forgiveness exclusively. Christ's death and resurrection for them are a personal attack on their sensibilities.

Liberals are not threatened by believers in faith, just the ones who try to force their beliefs on others,, the ones who are so intolerant of the belief system of anyone else. American Families, churches and communities are divided because of religious fanatical intolerence.

Believers in "faith" adopt the idea that they are correct and everyone else is wrong. If you don’t believe in what they do then you are destined to hell or what ever type of consequence they claim to believe. Organized religion is the cause of most of the sufferening in this world. Almost every war or genocide is based on religion. Its time for people to open there minds and not automatically accept what society tells us is correct. Separation of church and state and accepting everyone is the only way. It should be taboo for a politician to proclaim there “PERSONAL” faith. I don’t care what you believe, just keep it out of my face and my government.

I'm only threatened by the one's who want to the US into a theocracy. I want all people, as our Founding Fathers did, to worship (or not) how they choose. I don't want Evangelicals using the government to tell me how my church is supposed to worship.

Why is it when someone disagrees with Christian dominionists, they argue - stop shoving your lifestyle down our throats!! But, they turn around and say: "Do you belive in Jesus as your Christ and Savior? If you don't worship him the exact same way I do, the you're going to hell."

Isn't that shoving your lifestyle down my throat?

They why are there a variety of denominations? Is one correct the rest are going to hell? If so, which one? You've sort of painted yourself right into the corner that many of us are complaining about.
