Talk to people in your area about Signal Strength and dead spots. Consider the major companies:
Cingular
Verison
Nextel
Sprint
T-Mobile - website shows detailed map of their signal strength.
You really need good signal. So once you have CROSSED OFF the ones that probably won't work for you, then look at PRICE.
Once you have picked the service, I recommend that you visit their retail store. Not a DEALER, but company store. Again, you might check their website.
Then LOOK at the different phones. Look over the FREE offers first.
Sidekick is cool if you are doing Text Messaging and Internet
Lots of people LOVE the Motorola RAZR, they have one with a camera now too.
Be warned. If you visit a courthouse very often, then Don't get a cell phone with camera. They will make you LEAVE IT. (of course, it is totally bogus to leave your cell phone on during court. You would be treading on the Judge's domain).

Well I have the motorola v3 razr and I like mine just fine. The only thing is if you get this one don't drop it. I've dropped mine b4 and I had to put it back together. It started working again after a couple of minutes tho. Good luck!

depends witch dealer and how many minutes you want. I have a samsung x495 got it for ten bucks nice phone tmobile there is text meesaging t zones and more and there is service everywhere and ive loved it for 3 years hope this helps bye!

cingular 'motorola slvr L7'. I love it. music, captures video, pictures, internet and grea tservice.
but also try t-mobile.
