If I used a jetpack to hover just above one point of the earths surface for 24 hours would I be able to see the world using my jetpack and the rotation of the earth and end up in the same place?

No. That doesn't work because earth's atmosphere is also rotating with the earth. If you throw a ball above in a high speed train, the ball will come back to your hand, it won't drop at another place. The logic is same with your jetpack.

I'm not 100% sure but I think it would work. Take the space shuttle for example. It can keep an orbit above the earth and the earth spins below it.
Unless the earth's gravity would effect you differently because you were closer to the surface why couldn't you simulate an orbit above the earth say 500' above surface instead or 200 miles above the surface.
Maybe you can find the true answer on a physics website.

It's all relative...

Why use the jet pack... just stand still and in 24 hours you'll have traveled nearly 25,000 miles!

That means to stand still you'd have to be able to go 1000 miles an hour opposite the earths rotation. But then you'd have to add in the rotation of the earth around the sun... and the movement of the solar system in the Milky Way Galaxy

Forget the jetpack...get DSL service and use the Internet to travel wherever you want right in front of your PC or laptop. The Google Earth site and the National Geographic site are great! Have fun!

Yes, but it would take NASA rocket science... The best way to see the world is from the ground... and that would take much more than 24 hours... or even a lifetime... don't worry, there is nothing wrong with have a little house on the prairie mentality to life... if you can travel, then good for you... but in the end... hopefully you will GO TO HEAVEN, because JESUS SAVES
