Also, how can I stop all the programmes on my computer opening everytime I connect to broadband? How do I disable them?

contrl panel , add programs and delete the ones you dont need

easiest way to remove programs from startup is typing msconfig in "run". Then go to the Startup tab. There you can uncheck all the ones you don't want to run at startup.

As for your connection issues, the number of possible causes is huge, no one can tell without going through a troubleshooting process.

Go to START > RUN > MSCONFIG > START UP TAB
Disable (untick) all the progs you don't use each time you are on the p.c (you can just click their icons to start them manually when needed)
P.C will be quicker

go into TOOLS, internet options... advanced... restore defaults... and also check your start-up section in programmes... also in advanced, scroll down to delete internet files on browser shutdown and tick box... also, when on yahoo homepage.. you can go to file, save as.. and put the shortcut on your desktop..
