it is basics
see details below
If metals are reacted with oxygen they will create basic oxides. If non metals are reacted with
oxygen they will create acidic oxides. If acidic oxides react with water, they form acids. If basic
oxides react with water, they form bases.
element + oxygen------->oxide (acidic/basic)
oxide + water--------> acid or base
Example
4K +O2--->2K2O
Potassium reacts with oxygen to form potassium oxide
K2O +H2O---->2KOH
Potassium oxide reacts with water to make potassium hydroxide
KOH is basic, used in fertilizer and soap
Example
N2+2O2---->2NO2
nitrogen gas reacts with oxygen to form nitrogen dioxide
3NO2 + H2O---->2HNO3+NO
nitrogen dioxide reacts with water to form nitric acid and nitrogen monoxide.

Metallic oxides are basic oxides,i,e they give basics when reacted with water e.g Na20, K20, CaO, gives NaOH, KOH, Ca(OH)2, while non metals oxides give acids when reacted with water , NO2, SO3, gives HNO3, H2SO4.

metallic oxides [oxides of metals, e.g K, Na, Li, Mg, Ca] are all basic.
