Asking an illogical question is easier than answering a logical one. Vice versa applies the same.

If you are asking what is easier, then the answer varies. If you assume that one most be right in their answer, it could be easier to ask than to answer. In philosophy, one most know the right question before answering it; but once the question is found, the answer may sometimes only be debated. Socrates used to answer questions with another question; or, he would make people make a statement, then ask them questions until he managed to make them contradict themselves.

It could be easier to ask "what is beyond god," than giving an absolute answer to that question, because a question doesn't need to hold any truth. A question is usually a request for information, while an answer must often be satisfactory.

In social gatherings, however, it could be easier to answer than to ask. Think of small children who don't know how to lead a discussion with an adult on an equal level and are shy to strangers or people they don't fully feel safe with. They will rather answer to questions about their age, favourite cartoon, etc., than asking questions themselves.

In a discussion, when one asks questions, he takes the lead and tries to dominate the conversation. Some people like to do that, because they feel under control and don't need to talk about themselves as much, while others find it easier to react to the answers, instead of acting. In a jobinterview, you may train to have a good reaction to several answers, but at times, you must also show interest my asking questions that relate to the job.

In arguments or other agressive stand, asking questions is deemed as being the easier task. As I said above tho, some people are good reactionist and are better at giving answers, than asking. These people try to find flaws in your questions, and answer by usually making a statement and then asking you. It's sort of a counter-argument, counter-question.

Answering. To date I've answered 1362 questions with 97 best answers and asked 2 questions.

Voting is also an easy way to get points. Go through all your answers, find the ones in voting and you can actually vote for your own answer, if you can recognize it. The answerers' ids are hidden, but you usually recognize your own style.

Yesterday, I got 6 best answers because I was the only one to bother voting on any of them. So, 2 points for each answer, 1 point for each vote, 10 points for each best answer for a total of 78 points on a mere 6 answers. Sweet!

Look at this board- I'll bet most people answer questions rather than asking because we don't want to ask "dumb" questions and get a raft of grief from those who might answer.

One of the most important things you can learn to do in your life is to ask the right questions.

Answering is always easier. It requires a regurgitation of things you already know.

Asking requires humility, wonder, courage and purpose.

For me, asking. You can ask all the questions you want about anything but you can't always answer every question correctly unless it is stated as an opinion question, which can be easy respond from time-to-time.

It is easy to answer a question, but not to answer it thoroughly. It is also easy to ask a question, but not to ask a question that requires a thorough answer.

Usually answering another's question is easier then asking because most people want to seem knowledgable in all matters.

Asking is easier. Boom. You think of something and you ask it. When you answer you put thought into what exactly to say... If you're giving a decent answer at least.

Answering. My reasoning is this: You can put some thought into your answers to best help the person who is asking. Another reason is to score points. I enjoy helping the inquisitor and to see if my advice is best suited for her or him.
