They go under cover. Under leaves for example. Next time it rains, take a walk through the woods and you will see.

I do not have a scientific answer, but I have noticed you can see flies and/or mosquitoes under tree leaves outdoors or under anything that would protect them from the rain.

i think it just like humans, try to find a place to hide.because there are too small. simillar like ant also back to thier nest when rains is coming. if not the rain can kill them.

They hide beneath leaves, limbs, porches, or anything else to avoid being washed to the ground where they are vulnerable to predators.

just like us they seek shelter... under the leaves of trees, plants, grass ect... or they find a building to hide in... like the ***** (only the females bite) who got me last night.
