Of course. Mute means simply that you can not speak and people who are mute can still make sounds if they choose by the movement of air from their mouth.

A burp comes from excess gas in the stomach and when that gas is expelled, it creates a noise, what you call a burp.

Mmm..They are human beings just like you, the only difference is that they cannot speak, but can make sounds. Burping has nothing to do with being mute. Burping is excess gas or air in your system that needs to be let out. So the way we let it out is through our mouths and at the other end (you do know what I mean), anyway like I mentioned before, a mute person's only difference from a person who can speak is, they cannot say or speak actual words, they do make sound and of course they burp, sometimes even louder than a person with speech. Burping has absolutely nothing to do with the vocal cords. When you burp you don't have to talk, you let out air and a sound is made..I hope I did not confuse you, I just did not want to get into the medical terms, make it easier of all to understand!!Hope this helps..
