He just bought a house and I cannot believe he quit his job. He has a wife and couple of little kids. I am suspicious he will leave the area and leave the wife when he gets the truckers job.

I am divorced from an over the road truck driver and he was a dog to say the least. He chased women and never seemed to have any money.

Truckers make good money. Plus he doesn't have to deal with people or the public much.

A honest man will make a honest living with hard work. A shady man will make some money and will be doing the shady side of the trucking that we see on the 20/20 episodes. Sounds to me like he's a little shady- what you see is what you get. Pray for the family and the man to have a good honest life and maybe you'll see success. Any good living usually takes hard work and judging by all the 18 wheelers running over us on the road, they are in demand still! It's a hard job- my husband drives for a local oil company.

My husband was a company driver over the road for alot of years. Recently we bought our own truck and are doing very good. Even with the high price of fuel. You have to ask the brokers if they are paying a fuel surcharge plus the mileage. Dont take a load unless they do!
Some truckers give ALL truckers a bad name. If it wasnt for them life would be VERY difficult.

My husband quit his job a month ago and did the training for trucking. He is just now getting into his own truck. The company he went with got him a local route where he will be home every nite and the money they say he will make is awesome!

Yes...he will leave the area....Truck driving takes you everywhere....yes, he will make a living....Starting pay for a trained driver starts at about .32 cents per mile. If he drives 500 miles a day, he makes $165.00 a day, 7 days a week average.

Truck drivers make a decent amount of money, but they are away from home alot. I know a few truck drivers and they seem to be doing okay.

Some of them make very good money, but it does take a little work. Your suspicions may be right on though.
