Well you just started, you should use pads for alittle bit, I didn't start using tampons until later.

But when you first start out using tampons, I'd recommend Playtex Gentle Glide Slim Fits. And sizes will vary. For different types of flows.

It has a plastic applicator.

I know some of my friends that use Tampax Pearl for heavier flows.

I wouldn't recommend a tampon. Tampons are like plugs. Your cycle will seem like they it is going on forever. You can also get an infection, so be careful. As for pads they are only smelly when you don't change them enough through out the day. I change mine at least 4 times a day. and I bleed light.
Good Luck in your decision

when i first started my period i used playtex juniors!
But, when my period got heavier i started using heavier absorbancies!
When i got to high school i realised that try to get to the bathroom while carrying a regular tampon was impossible! I couldn't hide it! So my friends recommended o.b. tampons!
They don't have an applicator and they fir to easily in your hand, it's great!
But first a foremost i recommend playtex junior tampons! Easy applicator, but remember you can't flush it!
Once you get used to those, try o.b.! They are small and convienient!
Good Luck!

Try Tampax Juniors. They are small and slim. They are easiest. But until you are OK with your period I do suggest pads. Sorry :)
