I've never built a computer before. Been reading my PC Building Bible 2006 Magazine. Not really wanting to build a computer. But it helps out. The computer i'm building is not for gaming. Not really a gamer. Just for normal use and surfin the net. Listenin to music, downloading stuff, etc. And I'm tryin not to go over $1000. I have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The drive I have in the list is already purchased now.

Suggestions Welcomed!

The link you provided is a "secure" shopping cart and we cannot see what's in it. Revise it and we can help.

I build systems all the time. I can build them for as little as $200 depending what you want in it - the point here is that you can build a VERY nice system for $1000 - I just put together an AMD Dual Core Athlon X2 3800+ with 2GB RAM and 160 GB hard drive and a Huge tower case for under $800. For basic use, you can get half the RAM, a slower CPU in a mainboard that will handle a faster one so you can upgrade later, and spend well under $1000.

I remember building my first computer. It was fun! OK as for your self. you got a lot of power under thee hood on you wish list. First get a different CPU and motherboard a mid range 939 motherboard and a low end 939 should cut the price some. Still look for current tech on the motherboard (pci-e/sata/etc.). Second get an aspire x-dreamer case instead. You want to spend some money on extra fans for cooling. Don't get me wrong, the case you had is get because it's Aluminum, but it makes no sense to pay all that money and still have to pay for extra fans. This should cut your costs down majorly.

P.S. if you still want duo-core tech. then look at Intel. They have cheaper solutions for this type of technology.

Go with sata or scsi for speed, definitely a RAID configuration for stability, gigabit ethernet (for lan parties), no onboard video, definitely dual core, go with AMD, multiple fans. Good luck
