Why do guys do this down low stuff? I think it is terrible to play with a woman's feelings and health. If a man is gay, why not just find another man and make a happy life. Is it just me or are these men totally selfish?

I want to make sure everyone is getting this correctly. I am not talking about Bisexual people because from what I understand they will tell you their preference. I am speaking of men who will start a family with a woman or create a long seeming exclusive relationship with a woman, while knowing all along they don't really want to be with them.
I am not be judgemental here I just want to really understand this situation.

Disturbing phenomenon. Even more prevalent than we think. When Oprah did her expose' on Down Low men, I think it really shocked not only Black America, but the rest of America as well. I worked with ex-offenders in a prison release program for three years, and many told me stories of gay love affairs in prison, and returning to a "normal" heterosexual relationship with a woman upon release. Oh, I forgot to mention. You have to read "A Love of my Own" by E. Lynn Harris.

Maybe they are just scared. I would be just as shocked and upset if I found out a man I was sleeping with was having unprotected sex with another man....but we have to think from their point of view. Maybe if society was more accepting, then they would be more apt to come out of the closet.

It's funny how some people ask "Why are gay people flaunting their sexuality?" and then others ask "Why do they hide?"
Gay people are scared to do either since they will be criticized anyways
I personally don't pretend to be straight but I have a flirting problem (playfully) with girls and if they say they like me, then I sincerely tell them I'm not interested in them and stop any flirting with them.
And then I tell guys that I like that I'm gay to see if they are and if they like me back
I know, I'm weird

Well people should be up front to begin with. And like you said if they are gonna cheat with anyone else you shouldn't get into that relationship to begin with

Nah it generally has nothing to do with selfishness...tho sometimes it may. It's about prejudice, fear, discrimination and all the other aspects about being gay in a predominately heterosexual society.

I agree 100%, if your gonna be gay just admitt to it but they don't want to loose their brownie points so they try to keep it on the dL.
