You can argue the same thing about people in any other faith.

Well, the Bible does say to Judge Not, Lest Ye Be Judged.
I would chalk it up to a bad church experience.
I wouldn't believe the other person, either though. How would he know what they think if he belongs to a different church?
You can have 3 Baptist Churches all on the same block in the same town that all believe a little bit differently, you know?
If you feel your heart is in Christianity, find a church that fits. Non-denominational comes to mind in your situation.
Those churches are perfect for Christians who want to belong to a church, but have not found a church with a doctrine (belief system) that they agree with.
Best of luck!

It depends on the specific religion and the belief. Sadly, not all who take on them the name of Christ understand His life and example. If you focus on the New Testment, you will find Christ often reached out to people that others condemned. He associated with, taught and healed these "sinners." One of His most basic teachings is we did not have the right to judge others. This teaching was not just for His peers during his lifetime, but applies to us today. Classifying you are "not convertable" or "going to Hell" is judging.
I grew up in the Bible Belt, so I have been exposed to many different beliefs. I have seen those who believe conversion is an instant change and if you don't manifest the Spirit exactly as they teach--you are judged as unsaved. I believe you can give your heart to God, repent and convert/take upon you the name of Christ and make some immediate changes. I just don't think it ends there. I think Christians spend a lifetime learning, growing and changing.
I advise you to take the time to examine other Churches. You will find one that you can still be open in and learn.

Yes Christians look down upon other faiths because Christianity is a one God religion that believes anybody who doesn't believe in its philosophy is condemed. And if anybody is to come across them we must quickly convert them because we hold the cure according to the BIBLE (our law).
Being a Christian is a person that emulates Christ. Christ is perfect. So one can become so immersed in creating this lifestyle of perfection that all around him is imperfect. We become self-righteous pricks. I was one of them. I haven't been back to church in 4 years.I rather be a 'CLOSET CHRISTIAN'
These are some verses that I go by in a daily basis in society not behind church temple walls:
Matthew 5:13-16 THE BEATITUDES
Matthew 6:1 - rather than giving to be noticed, give anonymously
Matthew 6:5 - rather than praying to be heard, pray in the closet

It pains me to say, but you may be right. Like, Catholic Church is very unforgiving, especially in Europe. If you have been married in Church, and your husband broke your nose, and you ran away from him, no children, you can not get an annulment. The process takes years, or never. I don't understand how can they say that their religion is based on forgiveness. hey, I am Catholic, and I think that we are the most Hippocrates of all religions.
As far you going to hell for not being a Christian, relax...They believe that a baby dying before the Baptism does not go to Heaven either. Can anyone give me a break?
Catholic girl.

I am a Christian who goes to church every week, and I would never tell someone they are going to hell. Any Christian who goes around judging people only the time, and telling people they are going to hell is not a good Christian, since that goes against everything Jesus was about. People need to look inwards and work on their own imperfections.

well, i am a christian, and i would never even think about looking down on someone just because they do not believ in god or have not put there faith in god yet, listen i know that it seems like there are alot of people in the world that are like that, because there are, i mean just about three years ago my church went threw the biggest split all because the pastor wanted to reach out to people like you and make people like you understand the real meaning of god, but the people from our church didn't want that they wanted the same old little church with the same old bible believing elderly people lol, but the truth is is that you cant reach out to any one like that you have to do think that will atract people that are not christians, like the pastor says at my church, he would rather be around a bunch of people that are not christians than a bunch of stuck up christians. and so would i, so yes there are a lot of those kinda people in the world, but know that there are some people who are not like that, including me, so i think that if you look you will find good in church, you just have to find the right church for you!
i hope i have helped you, this is just from my experience and my nolege about church, thanks for listening, good luck, i wish you the best!!:):)

Unfortunately, I think this is the norm. For some reason, some people feel it's their "job" to convert people. What they don't do is gauge a person to see what they will put up with and what they won't. I have friends and families that are athiests. I don't go around touting my religion to them, but I've known "bible thumpers" who do when they are some of the worst hypocrites I've seen in my life. No one is worthless and believing so is not the way. They are in serious need of redemption themselves. The funny thing is, according to the Bible, "with what measure you judge, you will be judged" so their judgement of you has put them in as much peril as they think you are in.

Don't judge an entire religion by the fundaMENTALists. However, the most vocal Christians certainly look down on others of different faith. They see them as sinners and as the work of the devil to try and pull people away from their religion. This is true of many religions, but in the US, it's the evangelicals that you hear the most from.

I am terribly sorry for your extremely bad experience. This is not the way it is supposed to be. We sre not to judge lest we be judged. Personally I do not want to face the Lord for not only my own sins but that of others as well. As with anything in this country you can get a bad aple in a bushel or a bad pear in a box. Also you can find people who call themselves Christians and are judgemetal. This goes against the teaching of Christ we are to love one another and pray for each other in hopes of all coming to the lord. Spreading Hate does not bring people to the Lord it drives them away. I pray you mmay change your mind and search again for the truth. Please do not lat the bad apples ruin it for you. I hope you all get this message. Not all believers are biased and for those who have run inti this I am truly sorry.

Christians aren't perfect. We strive to be. But we aren't. Unfortunantly, some Christians find it difficult to distinguish between hating the sin and not the one DOING the sinning.
Nobody can be born a Christian. In essence, we were all like you at some point. We didn't know Jesus or about the Bible, but somebody took us in and treated us with love and respect.
It breaks my heart when I see situations where people are looked down upon just because they don't believe a certain way. If I were treated that way I wouldn't find a religion like that appealing. And truth be told, looking down goes against Jesus' teachings. "Love thy neighbor as thyself"
