Some gay men are more effeminate than others. But I had a friend in highschool who seemed just as masculine as any other straight men I know. I ended up being one of the first people he told and I was completely taken off guard. So yes, it is just a stereotype, just the same as not all lesbians are ultra masculine and not all muslims are terrorists. It's not a good way of thinking... it's kind of like placing people belonging to a certain group in a box.

No. Huge misconception. Many gay guys are on the very masculine side and don't act effeminate at all.

Look for pcitures of Rock Hudson or Jim Nabors. both gay and neither were the girlie men you describe.

It's just a stereotype. There are plenty of homosexual men who are otherwise indistinguishable from regular, everyday, relatively macho heterosexuals.
