Yes, of course it should be legal. The government has no business in our bedrooms. But it also should be regulated to avoid the problems many suggest. For many, prostitution is a victimless crime. Many ladies out there are supporting their families and love their "job". Many marriages have been saved by the men who had an outlet. Some ladies are victims of pimps and traffickers and that should be illegal. Not prostitution in general.

Another example is the common view of rampant stds, abuse and murder of prostitutes. increased use of prostitution to pay for drugs..... These aspects should be illegal and or regulated.

What destroys families is current enforcement of current laws.

Chris,
Do you personally know anyone who works as a prostitute? I don't mean as a client. I have known a few as acquaintances, and as a group, I would generally characterize them as very unhappy, self destructive people. Something very bad had happened to all of them as children. They are incapable of truly trusting or loving anyone, especially men. (many are bi-sexual) Every one of them had substance abuse problems, and children who were being neglected, if not abused. I don't think passing laws against prostitution will be any more effective than the current laws against personal drug use. It just makes politicians feel good about themselves, and puts non-threatening people in jail, where they then become dangerous. You cannot love someone as a human being, and use them for a disposable sex toy at the same time. The men who go to prostitutes have almost as many problems as the whores. We must embrace wisdom and love as core values for our lives, or the loneliness and suffering will never end.

Yes. The problems associated with prostitution- std's, violence, power issues, etc- all stem from it being illegal. There are always going to be people desperate enough to buy and sell sex, so we might as well bring the participants under the protection and oversight of the law.

Yes, but it should be regulated by the government. It seems to me the only way to make it more safe for the people who find it necessary. It will never go away, so why not make some money off of it.

Absolutely not.Why should a man be able to have control over a women by simply having money. If they cant get laid thats their problem. Its a sick, gross gross business. My opinion of prostitutes are lazy bitches who were too stupid to aquire the skills that would give them a healthy productive life.

I have often wondered why it is illegal to sell something that is perfectly legal to give away?
