I'm looking for something that gets decent gas mileage, a roomy interior, and won't break down on me in a couple years. Had any experience with any of these cars? Let me know what you thought.

Nissan, Honda & Toyotas all make quality cars. VW's are ok, but not the best.
I just drove a Toyota Camry for the past 4 months & did not like it. I felt seated too low in the car; like my butt was dragging on the ground. Didn't like that feeling! Everything felt low to me, & I'm average height (5'10").
I'd take both the Nissan & the Honda for test drives. Compare features.
A good website to compare fuel economy is:

I've got a VW Jetta and get great mileage and haven't had any mechanical problems. The only problem I've had is the paintjob. Although beware, I know there have been some Jettas that were real lemons (my brother got one that cost him over 12000$ CAD in repairs... but he would run it like a gasoline car, not a diesel one so, maybe he's to blame...).

Anyway, the VW Jetta or the Honda Accord would be my choices.

Toyota or Honda are the best of this group for your purposes. Go with whichever you like the best here. I know the Camry is boring, but it's absolutly amazing. Run forever, and has an amazing ride.

The Altima won't hurt you financially...most likely, but theVW is going to be a money pit.

Keep away from the Nissan. The Altima has been recalled several times including major defects.

Try a Jetta. It has some of the luxuries of the Passat, which I like. If you'd trade some of the luxuries for a GPS, get a fully loaded Accord.

I would go for an accord or even a civic, I have a civic and it gets great gas mileage! I've had my civic now for almost 3 years and I love it. Try for a civic si, if you want something a little sportier/more power.
