It is not because I am Argentinian (and proud of it!!!) but lets face it we were the best team!!! Yes we stand an excellent chance of winning in 2010 and cant wait to see that happening! Having a new coach will definitely be a good thing -Argentina rules!!!!!

I think Argentina ALWAYS has a shot at winning the World Cup. After not qualifying in 1974, they retooled with a young analytical coach named Menotti, which proved to be the best player-coach combination for the typically passionate players on the squad. He organized a collective team mentality which led them to victory in 1978 on home turf. In many ways, the 2006 team reminded me a lot of the '78 squad: young, fast, emotional, killer instincts in the strikers (el matador Kempes :-)), a calm and collected captain who orchestrated from the mid-field (Passarella), and even curly haired Coloccini reminded me of a young Tarantini, who was tall with a big curly mane, and who played defence in '78.
This team had all the ingredients to win except two: luck and the best defence. Italy was obviously a better defence because they kept Germany out of their goal even through overtime, but equally obviously, Argentina had a better offence because they were able to score on Germany in the first half, whereas the Italians lucked out at the end of overtime with what looked like a cheap copy of Maxi's goal against Mexico (same angle, but Maxi's was 10 times more spectacular). The luck factor ran out for Argentina during the second half of the match against Germany when Pato got injured, and Pekerman made the crucial mistake of relying on defence to win the game.
The majority of the fans in Argentina want Pekerman to remain, even though he has already tended his resignation. this is telling because they recognize that he put together something great and are willing to overlook the second half of the last game. I think AFA would be wise to keep him, and instruct him to solidify the backfield.
I know you want to see people respond with calls for Maradona to be coach, but I don't see that as a good move. Unquestionaby, the guy was a genius at play, and no one today comes close to the genius he was in 86. But that does not mean he can coach. Just because I speak English or Spanish fluently, or even eloquently, doesn't mean I can teach someone how to speak either. A coach, just like a good teacher, must not only know the skill they are teaching, but also how to teach that skill. Pekerman has proven his coaching abilities with the minors, whereas Maradona tried a little coaching in Racing, but he either gave up or was not as successful as hoped.
I say strengthen the backfield and keep Pekerman and the cup is Argentine in 2010!!!!

Argentina was one or the youngest team in this world cup tournament, and they played very well I'm proud of what they did and accomplished with there young talent. i really believe that Lionel Messi will be won of the greats in the next few years he has shown his magic on the pitch. they are fast and can score goals Messi is magic with the ball, i dont think Crespo will be there in 2010, but Messi will just keep getting better and stronger on the ball and i really think they will be the team to beat and they will have allot more experience by WC 2010 South. Africa.. GO ARGENTINA GO!!!!!!!!

you've 2 questions out that are moderate rephrasings of one yet another. In both, i'm particular you'll p.c.. your merely excellent answer from those which a) see Argentina prevailing, b) call for Pekerman's head on a platter, and c) enthrone Maradona as coach. First, I wholeheartedly agree that, in protecting with this journey's performance and projecting skills progression, and imagining what the 2010 squad will appear like, Argentina honestly is an really severe contender for the cup. No questions there. yet Lola, pay interest to Flor and Belen and the others who're telling you Pekerman isn't as undesirable as you're making him out to be. you imagine he screwed Argentina over, yet i imagine you in ordinary words undergo in ideas the undesirable alternatives he made in the 2d 0.5 of the game adversarial to Germany, which changed into compounded by using a forced sub (Abbondanzieri) and a ref whose calls, even as they were close, continually leaned in Germany's choose. I provide you grave blunders in the game, yet there changed into also undesirable success. in case you bypass over this recreation, how or the position else or in what way did Pekerman screw over Argentina? finally, I stand by using my element in the answer on your different similar question that Maradona isn't the answer for the coaching position. taking section in the game properly and guidance the game properly are 2 very multiple issues, or perhaps as Maradona has shown previous a doubt that he's definitely the merely excellent participant ever in Argentina, which ability not some thing in words of educating. Pekerman, on the different hand, turned right into a mediocre participant (many coaches are), yet he led the U-20 team to three international titles and a couple of S-Am titles, a feat no different coach has ever come close in Argentine heritage. seem at what Boca Jr is doing with Maradona. they have him in the corporation, particular, yet as company face of the team and to entice company sponsorship. He has a PR guy, not a coach. recuperate out of your dream of Maradona being a coach, please.

I have my doubts. If you look at when Argy won it--they were at home with a solid all-around team (and some dubious under-the-table Quiroga-ing) in '78 and in '86 a superstar with a solid team. Unless Messi emerges as the world's best player, I'd say no. Seems like either Brazil (Pele, Romario, a fit Ronaldo) or Argentina need that superstar to get them over the hump.

Who is this Eduarodi guy?!He better watch his back because I don't think people will be very happy.Anyways, I think Argentina will have a good chance.I think Pekerman did a good job dispite what other people have said.I still disagree that he made some of the best players sit down. But their chances also depend on the players.

Argentina has a promising young team and they will be a candidate to win it in South Africa. However, I disagree with you about the coach since continuation would be better for this squad.

Hard to say what will happen in 4 years. They definitely have potential, but I think it depends more on the players than the coach.
