I think Argentina will have an oustanding chance of winning in 2010. As you say they have some great young players and Messi is going to be up there in the greats league if he develops as he should. Not sure of your choice of Maradonna though - I know he is a hero in Argentina, but doe she have any coahing skills (you will know better than me).
PS - I was in BA a few years back, and watched an International game (not sure who you were playing but it was a friendly) - one of your strikers missed 3 or 4 penalties in the game - do you remember the game, who was the striker - must have been about 5 years ago.

You have two questions out that are slight rephrasings of each other. In both, I'm sure you will pick your best answer from those which a) see Argentina winning, b) call for Pekerman's head on a platter, and c) enthrone Maradona as coach.
First, I wholeheartedly agree that, based on this tournament's performance and projecting talent development, and imagining what the 2010 squad will look like, Argentina absolutely is a very serious contender for the cup. No questions there.
But Lola, listen to Flor and Belen and the others who are telling you Pekerman is not as bad as you make him out to be. You think he screwed Argentina over, but I think you only remember the poor choices he made in the second half of the game against Germany, which was compounded by a forced sub (Abbondanzieri) and a ref whose calls, when they were close, always leaned in Germany's favor. I grant you grave mistakes in the game, but there was also bad luck. If you omit this game, how or where else or in what way did Pekerman screw over Argentina?
Finally, I stand by my point in the answer to your other similar question that Maradona is not the answer for the coaching position. Playing the game well and coaching the game well are two very different things, and while Maradona has proven beyond a doubt that he is unquestionably the best player ever in Argentina, that means nothing in terms of coaching. Pekerman, on the other hand, was a mediocre player (many coaches are), but he led the U-20 team to 3 international titles and 2 S-Am titles, a feat no other coach has ever come close in Argentine history. Look at what Boca Jr is doing with Maradona. They have him in the organization, sure, but as corporate face of the team and to draw in corporate sponsorship. He has a PR man, not a coach.
Get over your dream of Maradona being a coach, please.

Saying that Pekerman screwed the team over has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my life, yes, he made a wrong decision during the germany vs. Argentina game, and I'm sure he had his reason to why he didn't put Messi in, but don't you think he made an excellent job with this team?
Or no, would you rather see Bielsa again? having no strategy, and spending the entire match screming at the players..
As for Maradona, yes, he was a great player, but coach? no, he better keep doing La Noche del 10, because the closest thing I see him to the Argentine team is as a fan, not someone who plans games, and strategies..
Also, if it is true that Pekerman is leaving (which I hope not), I would like to see Bianchi, you know, a real coach, with real coaching experience.
EDIT: As for Argentina winning the WC in 2010, I certainky hope so, and I also hope to see the same great players, but with more experience.
EDIT 2: Even though pekerman said he was leaving, they still have to discuss it with grondona. I think he said it because it was right after the match, and was angry and sad.
And even Maradona was a great player it still doesn't mean he can handle a coaching job. When he played he followed the coach's advice, and used his creativity in the field, yes, he ran over 4 English players and scored a goal, but it doesn't mean he can handle an entire team.

If Maradona doesn't do drugs anymore, he may be a great coach ;-)
Argentina played an excellent tournament this year. They were just unlucky on that game against Germany. After all, they didn't even lose. Officially, it's recorded as a tie!!! The PK's only determined who would advance.
So, yeah, why not? They could win the 2010 World Cup. Good luck!!! Suerte!!!

I think even with Pekerman coaching again, we can win. We have some awesome players on the field and on the bench, and IF THEY ARE GIVEN the chance they will take Argentina all the way to the Cup. Not Maradona, though. He was a brilliant player, but not a coach.

Hola Lola!!!
I'm gonna answer this time in English since last time I did it in Spanish some people complained.
If Pekerman has to go, I'd love to see Gallego or Bianchi conducting the national team.
Gallego has made champion EVERY TEAM he has couched !!!
Those are River Plate, Independiente, Newell's Old Boys and Chivas de Guadalajara.
Not many couches have achieved that!
Besides his teams play excellent football, the way we like it.
Bianchi on the other hand has made mediocre teams with mediocre players be championd many times too, that is Vélez Sarsfield and Boca Juniors, both even champions of the world.
But he failed in Italy and Spain.
Besos!

I at least hope that they make it to the final. I really want to see Brasil v. Argentina in the final someday; that would be amazing.
