I have no problem with it, as long as the celebrity comes in with a fake name. When they use their real name, they get hundreds if not thousands of answers, not exactly what I would call a successful endeavor. I mean the chances of someone actually getting through to them is pretty darn low. It would be a huge turn off to me if I had plans to read all those answers.
To most celebrities anonymity is golden and they can achieve that with the fake name.
Their are obvious exceptions of course, for example when Al Gore asked his question it was more of a advertisement designed to raise awareness for his cause. Which is noble in it's own right.
I imagine there are many celebrities out there with fake names having a good time in here without anyone knowing any better.
I would laugh my butt off if some troll was insulting a famous model that he was in love with.
I too have noticed that Yahoo has many famous people in here, I imagine that Yahoo has been courting famous people for many reasons including star-power advertising. I first noticed it when I heard Yahoo Answers advertised on a the radio at work. They must have realized just how successful this is and come out with a comprehensive advertising program.
Just look what they have done here lately, we have international editions, "Ask the World", celebrities, not to mention the radio spots they have been buying. Even my Yahoo home page has a Yahoo Answers promo on it!
This is all BIG revenue being created for Yahoo. Watch their stock price perhaps?

If they want to come on and post questions or post answers then so be it. Celebrities are people too. Some may have an agenda like you mention, others may just be bored like the rest of us.

I don't think it's a bad thing. Celebrities are human too, they may need help and they may be willing to give advice. And, don't always believe what people say, they may say they are a celebrity, but really, it's only the net, you can't tell who's on the other side of the screen.

I am sure that celebrities won't ask the kind of intelligent and insightful questions that the general public ask. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go answer a 14 year old boy's question about monkey porn.

call a reporter for an area newspaper and ask if she could be able to interview you. If she says sure, particularly all of us indoors the community will learn you. Then grant to look on the community television station on the morning coach at 6am. the two could be unfastened.

I don't think they really have an agenda, it's just something to do.
