im going to egypt in october for ther first time im staying in hurghada and would love to see the pyramids.

I can't say for sure, but my Mum went there a couple of years ago and they turned down the trip to the pyramids because it was going to take quite a long time to get to them from Hurghada and the heat was too much to travel for such a long time.

Feel I need to add, my mum isn't an elderly lady who can't stand heat. Far from it, she is only in her early 50's.

right if you take a bus (coach) from the station at hurghada town to cairo youll be took to the boarders and follow a convoy through the desert till you reach cairo. this proceedure will take roughly between 12 to 14 hours. but a word of advice before you go. please avoid the day time route because the heat going through the desert will be too hot. there are convoys leaving from any thing up to 1am morning time when it is cool. so to avoid the heat through the journey i would suggest takeing the early morning convoy i know it will be tireing. but itll be better than following the heat through the desert in the afternoon times. and realy you are going to love it. oh in english pounds this coach will cost 27.00 for the trip.

Ok! first of all i wish you a very good holiday ....
Second ... If you are traveling by airplane I'd say it will take 45 mins.... If you go with the bus then 6 hrs...... Cycling 1 day .... With the camel 3 days ..... with Moses 40 years :)

abt 6-7 hours.. can't be done in one day.. i mean going to cairo, visiting the pyramids, and going back..
taking a plane would be a better option for u

It took me 6 hours on a minibus across the desert. Wouldn't reccomend it, wouldn't do it again - too hot!
