Surely b'coz of the way they play. No need to born on that country. I'm Asian, but my hearts belong to France. See how Zidane, Henry, Thuram, Makalele, and Bartez contribution to France? Gosh, they were so AMAZING!!

I think people are fans of a certain country because they were either born there, or their nationallity is that country. For instance... I am 75% German, so I like the Germany team. I also root for the American team since I was born here. This is what I think. There will always be those who like a team just because they are good. We call those people front runners and not true fans. Hope this helps!

I was supporting Germany and now hope France wins because they seem to play a "cleaner" game than so many teams. South American teams seem to play especially dirty, falling to the ground and writhing about whenever they make contact with an opponent, only to jump up smiling when the referee calls a foul.
Also I am a fan of certain players that play on teams I follow, Germany's Goalkeeper Lehmann plays for Arsenal as does Thiery Henry of the French side.
Zidane is enough of a reason to support Le Bleu!

First it`s the country that I was born in then comes the traditional support which is the style of play, I`m a fan of a certain foreign country also for many years now.

I think people that choose teams just b/c they play good, aren't real fans, they just don't want to be embarassed cuz they team lost. I always want the underdogs, teams from Africa, 2 win. And at the beginning of every World Cup I randomly choose my team...

im a fan of argentina for several reasons....
1. i was born there and lived there till i was 10
2. maradona, best football player ever, came from argentina
3. we have 2 world cup wins
4. the team is full of fresh young talent (messi and tevez) but also has great experienced players (riquelme, crespo, and others)
5. they play well as a team and are one of the best teams in south america
however, im also a fan of portugal, italy, ghana, ukraine...and many other teams for their talented players, etc.

i love England and i'm American. i think it's partly because of the passion their homeland fans have, but also i love the intensity the english players bring to the game. i would have loved to grow up there in a culture that's so football-saturated. i'm jealous.
