Despite new technologies, advancement in human nature, the world will always stay the same. I will say that as we progress in life we tend to be more selfish of the environment around us. We need to take better care of our environment if we want to be around another 1,000 yrs.

In the past, the main forms of transportation were horses, ships, and walking. Women wore dresses all the time, pirates were a major problem for the military, there were no computers, black people were slaves, women had no rights, there were no modern conviences, and until the last few centuries no knowledge of the "New World".
In present times we have airplanes, electronics, women having more jobs outside the home, cars, paved roads, telephone, etc.
In the future I think we will explore space and maybe start building areas to live there to support the growing population. Other than that, I really have no idea.

The world has become dumber, and more violent now and 1000 years ago. As we have discovered more about the outer world, we have ignored our 'inner' world, and thus we are less inquisitive, and more restless. I suspect in those years, we were more curious. Probably, 1000 years ago, we had fewer materialistic things, and more 'think'. Now, we have more things, more dissatisfaction, more expectation, and less thinking.
We must experience the fun of more thinking with fewer things.

Technology will change, people will never change. people will always use the existing technology to either make life more comfortable or worse for others.
