You are referring to the Grandfather paradox, and frankly you won't find anyone with a real answer to your question. One possible explanation is that there are many universes out there, each one delivering from the other by one single possibility. So if you go back in time and change things, you will also move in space to the universe were these things actually happened. Again, it's all speculation and no one can be sure. Care to try?

I agree with the other guy. I've always considered the posibilities of time travel but later realized that it is not a posibility unless you connect it with dimensional travel. This is my take on the matter If you do get a chance to travel though time you are actually travelling through different dimensions of the universe and currently im very sure that there are 360 initial posibilities of this. Each dimension is a posibility of your next action, so if you move towards one angle of direction you are already traveling towards that dimention. Perosnally I think with our current technology we could only travel to 90 dimensions or those that are just infront of us. So going 180 would send you back in time or what we percieve to be back in time, the truth would be, that we would only be in another dimension 100% similar to our current one but only its in the past. So the answer would be YES, you could kiss your own tush and kill yourself. Me on the other hand if ever I get a chance i'd just smile at me on the most goomiest day of my life.

Time travel is impossible. You can't backup in time. The only thing I think would be possible, is maybe find a way to suspend time around you so you could kinda travel in the future (but stay in your present state), but backing up would be impossible. Like in superman, you can't travel in time by rotating around the earth at the speed of light. The only way to "backup in time" is if you take time as we know it, go in a plane and travel West faster than the Earth's rotation... Then you would have left at 8:00 am and maybe arrive at 7:00 am the same day... but it's technically not "time travel".

To travel back in time is only possible through the theoretical existance of wormholes which are essentially a rip in the thread of time and space. If you could somehow accelerate through one then theory holds that you would be transported to a fixed time and fixed place. If that place and time where close to a time and place you existed and you found your younger self then it is possible for you to kill him in theory. However if you did the real question becomes wether or not you would die in your present form.

It is unclear if one can actually travel back in time. The amount of energy required to move someone beyond the speed of light is infinite, where the laws of time as we know it are untested. From what we know now we can move quickly relative to another object and ages more slowly from there perspective and they age more quickly from yours. Your time still goes be at the same rate for you.

I think so. If you go back in time and change events, the changes will ripple forward through time. If you're in the past when the ripple starts, you should be protected from those changes. Therefore as long as you are the one who goes back in time and kills your younger self, you (the you doing the killing) will survive. If someone else went back and killed the younger you, you would not survive.

Wouldn't it be far simpler to just jump off a building today instead of traveling in time to commit suicide?

To beging with...time does not exist...it is just a mesure of convenience created by Men...long TIME ago....No... we can not go back in time...or move up in time....it is a variable tha we can express it with numbers....but you can think ahead of time to do something good...or you can think back to be proud or regret a past event in your life...
