The difference in the University requirements is in the courses you take to satisfy the requirements for Integrative Studies in the Biological and Physical Sciences as well as the Mathematics requirement. Candidates for the B.S. degree take basic courses in the Biological and Physical Sciences (such as introductory biology, chemistry, or physics) rather than the Integrative Studies courses in those areas. In addition a higher level of mathematics must be attained for the B.S. degree.

For the College of Social Science requirements, the B.S. degree requires somewhat more work in the Natural Sciences beyond the University requirements than does the B.A. degree, and correspondingly less additional work in the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Social Science than does the B.A. degree.

Students who are considering the possibility of graduate school in Psychology as well as students with strong interests in the Natural Sciences are advised to consider pursuing the B.S. degree.

If this is sounding like an overwhelmingly difficult choice, realize that when selecting your courses in your first year the impact of this decision is primarily on your selection of courses to take in the area of Natural Science. The other implications of this decision are not relevant until somewhat later in your time as an undergraduate. You may change your mind (perhaps many times) without significant repercussions, just as you may change your major. Your guiding rule should be that it is better to have a plan to change from than to have no plan at all. The most successful program plan takes into consideration more than one possible goal at a time, and tries to make progress toward all of your goals until you decide to narrow your range of alternatives.

In theory, yes, they are the same "level" just differing majors, subjects, courses studied -- just as previous answers have stated. However, when employers are looking for job candidates, particulary in high tech, medicine, and other technical fields, you will most typically see requirements listed as Bachelor of Science. Many hiring managers will under-rate a Bachelor of Arts degree. For instance, I have a B.A. in Economics, which is very unusual because Economics is typically considered very technical, and in most colleges and universities, it is delivered in the B.S. programs. My advanced degrees make it less relevant. So, when asking your question, you may want to add WHY you are trying to determine the difference. Good Luck!

Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts. Neither is "higher" than the other. Whether you obtain a B.S. or a B.A. depends on the subject matter/major itself.

BA - Bachelor of Arts, BS - Bachelor of Science. The difference between the two degrees is basically the amount of science and math credits that you have vs. the amount of other classes.

They're basically the same (same amount of study, etc), but one is a Bachelors in Science and the other in Arts, so the subjects studied are different.

A BS includes required courses in science, mathematics, and foreign language. A BA does not. If you are going into one of the sciences, it will be easier to get a job with a BS.

My university had different professors, classes, and curriculum for BA in Mathematics and a BS in Mathematics. I think the BS looks better on a resume in that particular field.
