I ordered my bridesmaid dress in size 10 at David Bridal, but I lost a lot of weight and it doesn't fit me now. It is too late for alterations...do you think they would let me exchange for a size 8 off the rack. Are those dresses for sale? Anyone done this before? I feel stupid calling if this is not the case.

You can try calling and asking about exchanging, but your best bet would be to find a seamstress or tailor that will do alterations.

Good luck!

Davids Bridal will sell just about anything to you. Their stores are stocked with off the rack dresses - but you can't always guarantee that they have the style and color you're looking for. Give them a call. Losing weight right before a wedding is such a common problem. they deal with it all the time. If you act soon, they will be able to search other store locations and ship you the right dress overnight. It will be pricey, but at least your dress won't fall off you during the ceremony. Never hesitate to call a store with questions - especially a huge chain store. The nicer you are to the sales people, the nicer they'll be to you.

David's Bridal won't sell the dress off the rack. I tried to buy one in the exact color as what I was ordering and they wouldn't let me do it. Those are demos, only. I'm sure they'd sell them if they were out of style, but not because you lost weight.

You don't have to have it altered there. Any dressmaker can alter the dress. I had mine done by a woman who makes dresses as a hobby.

There is no harm asking, the answer will be either "yes or no" If the answer is yes then all is well, if the answer is no then you can find others to do the alterations for you. Some store will allow to exchange if the garment is not worn, and you have the receipt, depending on the store policy, some has 30 days to 1year. Goodluck and congrats in loosing pounds.

chances are b/c you ordered the dress, it's final sale. there are not many bridal stores that sell "off the rack". check your reciept or call the store. and it never is too late for alterations! get a move on!

I would think you could exchange it if it was never worn and you have a receipt. As long as it hasn't been altered yet. Call the store where you bought it.

I'm guessing there's going to be a surcharge for less than the cost of the entire outfit. My second guess is that most of the weight changes they deal with are in the other direction. Hurry!
