I started my period early today (4 days early) It started slow but was flowing heavy this morning. I took a preg test this morning because I had planned to (i'm trying to get pregnant and JUST got off the pill on the 14th of last month) ((so this would be my first period off the pill)) When I took the preg test right away it was negative so I threw it away. Later on (hours later) I was cleaning out the trash and I picked it out and looked at it and there was the faintest vertical line. (!!) On the instructions it said even the faintest line meant positive! So... can this be possible if I have cramps and bleeding? Is this implantation blood? I have only bled for last night and today, so I don't know how long I will bleed. I was sure I wasn't, but now... I'm not so sure. I will wait and test another week, but can a faint line be Positive? I have been having stomach problems lately and have gone to the doctor several times. He thought I was pregnant at first but when tested I was neg.

I took the same test about week 1/2 ago and threw it away the same way. I didn't realize you had to keep it level for 10 minutes, but it was negative and I looked at it the next day and it was STILL negative. (no light blue line)So how can THIS one have a different line than the other when they were both treated the same way? I may NOT be preg, but this is odd. I will take another in a few days (or tomorrow) and leave it level for 10 minutes. I held it in the pee for like 10sec and then waited until the first and second blue line appeared then threw it away. It wasn't even a minute. Very possible that it appeared before the ten minutes was up. (I better read directions better this time...thx for all your input)

You tests results of a pregnancy test are invalid after 10 to 15 minutes. And as for your bleeding it is perfectly normal, it happened with me the reason why this is happening is that when you are on the pill the number of days and amount of blood from your period is reduced and now your body is reacting towards not taking the pill . for me I had two irregular cycles and after that everything came back to normal , and if you are still not sure you can take a blood test which is never wrong and even if you have a very weak pregnancy it would show.
Good luck

Sounds like you might have some hcg in your system, which is an indicator you could have conceived. Home pregnancy tests will tell you they are not reliable after 20 minutes of reading the first result.
Your best bet would be to contact your doctor and have a beta hcg test run. It's a blood test. If you are pregnant you will have a beta level and they can tell you what your next step should be.
Yes a faint line can be positive if the line was read within the time limit on the box.

There's a point at which the test is no longer reliable... When it's been in a non-horizontal position. When it's been longer than 10 minutes since the test was done.
Wait until the bleeding stops and do another test then if you're still worried.
I think that faint line is probably due to the test being in the wrong position for too long... Sorry!

Test results aren't accurate after 10 min. of testing. So, if you saw a second line hours after you took the test, I wouldn't trust it. Try again tomorrow morning with first morning urine, lay the test flat and then read the results within 10 min. Typically, even a faint second line is positive (when read within 10 min.) because it's detecting some amt. of hCG in your urine. If you are bleeding pretty heavily, you probably aren't pregnant. Implantation blood should be brown or light pink and should just be spotting, not actual flow. There are stories of women having their period during pregnancy, so it's possible, but not very likely, in my opinion. Typically, it takes several months for your hormones to regulate after you get off birth control, so getting pregnant so soon after getting off it is not likely, although it could be possible. Good luck!

i don't want to hurt your feelings but it sounds like you are not pregnant once you look at it once when the time is up then thats the answer whether it changes in a hour or not doesn't matter. if it came out neg then its neg after so long the test isn't worth anything anymore. if you still think you are then don't spend anymore money with store stuff go to your doc and have a blood test ran that will the answer but it sounds like you are not pregnant. but if your trying then keep your head up time will tell

Hi, sorry about your confusing experience, but after 10 min the results are invalid. There are even some brands notorious for producing that positive line after the time limit.
BTW, the site www.peonastick.com is great for support and information on Home Pregnancy testing.

Sometimes test strips show deviated results due to hormonal dis-balance in body and technical faults. These tests are not confirmatory.
in some cases---
Early test may be positive but then becomes negative due to growth arrest of early embryo. Therefore advance tests in lab up to 3 months can make you sure about pregnancy.
I wish you good luck.

If it went back and it had the line and the instructions says it needs to have a faint line and you went to the dr. and he thought u were pregnant the first time then yes u are pregnant. I suggest that u do not have any more sex. My name is Nicole and trust me sweetie you are for sure to be pregnant. I will email you and I can tell you more.

it is possible to be pregnant and be bleeding, but you don't sound so healthy. i wouldn't wait too long to take another test or go to the doctors, the last thing you would want is a miss-carriage!! I'd take another one at home, your first pee of the morning and if your still worried if it's negative, I'd ask the doctor to do a blood pregnancy test, they're more accurate but most doctors don't do them unless they need to.

Also, in the instructions it says that you cannot trust a reading after 10 minutes.
