No, not in the strictest sense.
There are some professional folks on this board that answer questions but the asker is not compensating them and therefore the person answering is not subject to any liability. The only consideration (legal definition) received is the points awarded. These points could be considered compensation, as "bragging rights" could be said to have "value". Unfortunately these points have no value in any conventional sense and besides they are awarded by Yahoo.
I did a number of jobs in my career and could be considered a professional in any of them. When I answer a question about one of my professions I normally answer from memory. My answers are professional answers in that sense. Now, if you were paying me to answer your question I would not answer from memory. I would do the necessary research to ensure the answer you received was correct, and that it incorporated the latest in research and development.
