First, aliens do exist. It's impossible that Earth is the only planet in the UNIVERSE that has life... the question is, are they advanced enough and did they find us? If so, they probably didn't show themselves because they just want to analyse us and study us. They don't want to interfere with our affairs. We would probably do the same thing in their position.

I believe aliens exist elsewhere in the universe. However there is nothing to indicate they have any interest in us. Nor do we know if they have space travel capabilities. Many people assume that intelligent life elsewhere must be far advanced over us and have the ability to come here (Hence, UFO's) but we have no positive proof. The universe is extremely large and may be teeming with life but until we have the ability to travel great distances, we may not come across them. Who knows, if alien life is too far away, we may never find them

1. Do aliens exist?
Yes.
2. If they do, then why wont they show themselves?
Because, according to the Martian's observations, humans are warfreaks.

Good question. Back in 1961, a group of prominent scientists tried to estimate how many such civilizations there OUGHT to be:
http://www.activemind.com/Mysterious/Topics/SETI/drake_equation.html
The problem is with the distance between such civilizations and the energy it takes to detect them. IF they existed, it is highly unlikely we'd ever know.
However, for an interesting treatment of the possibility that they don't exist, check out:

They are limited by the same physics we are. Specifically, nature's speed limit: Light. Eventually it may be possible to travel at speeds near the speed of light it will never be surpassed. so even if alien are advanced and living relatively close they will have to travel for years, decades or even centuries to get here. (The nearest star is 4.3 light years away).
So even if a civilization has the technology and abilty to have mastered space travel, they still have a really long ride.

Most scientists hold that if extraterrestrial life exists, its evolution would have occurred independently in different places in the universe. An alternative hypothesis, held by a minority, is panspermia, which suggests that life in the universe could have stemmed from a smaller number of points of origin, and then spread across the universe, from habitable planet to habitable planet. These two hypotheses are not mutually exclusive.
I think it is safe to say that if they existed, we would have interacted with them by now.

It seems ridiculous to assume there is no other life in the universe than on our planet, but the odds of beings out there equal or more intelligent than us arent as great. We dont have the ability to send astronauts out into deep space, so maybe they cant either.. The other possibility is that they have come here and you havent seen them. (Something that would make a trip that far would probably be pretty small)

So you could possibly get to know the aliens? Come on, who would want to know a human? If there are aliens they will be advanced to be your friend. Possibly they would even find you a bothersome animal like a dog.

We've only been broadcasting radio for less than 100 years, they have only traveled less than 100 light years from Earth by now. For even the nearest other system, they have to travel 1000's of light years. So the answer is, they don't know we're here yet.

considering the universe that we can see holds billions of GALAXIES it'd be pretty naive to think we are the only form of life around.
however we could be the most advanced. maybe it'll be us descending upon an alien planet and scaring all the locals with technology
