My husband has been here illegally for 8 years, together for 7,married for 3. He does not qualify for any type of program. We have a life together, a 5-year-old, he has no crimanal record, pay's taxes, contributes to society, speaks limited English and basically has assmilated in the United States. He has escaped raids as he watched others being treated like murderer's. Without the immigration reform laws we will have to live in constant fear forever. Why is it that Mexicans, Indians, and Philipinos denied any type of papers, there are no Visa's for these people???? yet Central Americans are able to obtain documents through a lottery, anyone from Russia, Germany, Poland, Europe, even some parts of South America are able to obtain papers and bring others here and they are not even born here. I was born in D.C. and am not able to help my husband. Ain't that some poo?? Please, don't believe that all forigners are terrorists, open your mind and hearts, fear is ignorence.REFORM NOW!!!

I don't argue your point,it's valid but, as with every rule there is an exception. Yes, I am playing the sympathy card, this has been a struggle for my American family, yes American family, Mexico is a part of the Americas, North to be exact. The same part of North America that in which the border was moved and not by the Mexican side I might add. My husband did commet a Jay-walking crime not a feloneous crime involving mmoral terpetude. There should be fine, no doubt. You do the crime, pay the time or the fine,Right? I ask you now.My husband came to US<=( us, get it, you & me) to escape poverty and a corrupt Govt, not to corrupt ours or to steal food from our mouths. My GOD said "Let's break bread" Imagine being blind, walking unfamiliar earth, hungry & cold with a dream, a dream we take granted everyday. The just out-weighs the means.I ask you now. How can a dream be a felony? I've enjoyed you answer. Knowledge is Power. Reform Now. Pray for us & GOD bless.

that lottery matter sux.

Individuals who say, "wait in line." don't have a clue.

Individuals who accuse the "illegals" of "stealing" jobs have surrendered to utter ridiculous nonsense.

I've read through all the Dept of Homeland Security stuff on immigrations. It all sux. Unless you have a Ph.D., are super ordinarily talented, have immediate family members here, you have a very small chance of being welcomed here. If you qualify, however, you have a very long wait in store, and your family might have to endure separation for years.

The interviewing process at the various embassies sux too. Even for a temporary visit, your request can be denied virtually on a whim. I have friends who have been denied, and all they wanted to do was come for a brief visit. You have to have the equivalent of thousands of dollars in the bank -- under the guise that you must have a "compelling reason to return" to your country. Get this, my friends are very much employed -- some are college teachers -- in their own countries (like that's not compelling! and their intentions to visit were blatantly made clear). Go figure!

The USA is quite an unwelcoming country. It's not as simple as "waiting in line." Our own Secretary of State has recognized this, however, it seems all she will be able to do is gloss over it all in a public relations short of way (that is, make it appear to be prettier than it truly is.)

Visas are terribly inhumanely difficult to get.

I agree with you on this one.

I believe that those who can pay their way to get here, fully register, and can assimilate right in -- learn English, abide by basic laws of the land, stay out of trouble -- on their own through their own hard work should be allowed to stay forever and ever if they want.

I'm getting more fed up everyday about the USA's attitude towards the rest of the world. I was born here, and I will take advantage of that fact, but I plan to retire elsewhere in a much more welcoming country.

The second sentence of your question says it all. "My husband has been here ILLEGALLY for 8 years".

Report illegals and the companies that hire them to:

I.C.E. (866)347-2423

E.E.O.C. (800)669-4000

Federal Employment Immigration Case Workers (202)693-0051

U.S.C.I.S. (800)375-5283

Immigration Violations (800)232-5378

The fact your husband "has escaped raids" as he watched others being treated like the CRIMINALS they are only makes the odds better that he will be caught sooner than later. The only reason he "has no criminal record" is because he hasn't been caught. What part of ILLEGAL do you not understand?

I don't know where you are getting your information, but you have either been grossly misinformed or lied to.
The immigration LAWS in this country are clear, concise and
easily understandable to the average 10 year old child. They are also the most lenient of any country in the world.

You can contact either of the above sites to help you with LEGAL IMMIGRATION. I do not envy you. Your are going to have to make some very difficult decisions in the weeks and months ahead but you made you bed and now you must lie in it.

Illegal is the key word. It's about National Security!

You're going to hate my answer, but here it is anyway ...

First of all, your husband IS a criminal. He broke the law when he came here, period. We have rules and laws that cover how he can get into the country and be just like everyone else. That is the ONLY way he should do it, and YOU being an American should feel the same way.

Second, your husband is short cutting the economy of the USA and helping to bring it down by adding to the problems of poverty, denying people jobs because HE and people like him will do them for cheaper just to have a job. That's again not the right way to handle things. You know it, otherwise you wouldn't "live in fear forever." If you would get him in line and make him a citizen the right way, you wouldn't have this problem. FACT!

I have a friend from Nigeria, he has waited in line to come here and be a citizen. He waited for a long time with a job and paying into our tax system. He got married to a woman from his homeland and had two children who are NOW waiting in line to become citizens the right way. I don't think it is fair to people like him who use the rules to do things that your husband and people like him refuse to and expect to be handed citizenship, when they have PROVED they don't deserve it, because they don't follow the rules already. Why should my friend get to wait in line and then have citizenship just handed to people because they HAPPEN to have run across the border in the middle of the night to STEAL jobs and citizenship? That's not right, nor is it fair and your husband should go home and wait in line like everyone else.

Sorry, but that's life. It isn't fair unless you make it so. Breaking the law is breaking the law. Period. You jump a fence in my yard and pitch a tent in my back yard, then you DEMAND that I let you sleep in my bed because you live in my yard .. why should that be fair? I'd like to drive your car and eat out of your fridge for free, so I should just come over and take your food? That's what you're saying essentially by HELPING your husband break the law and then demanding we change the law so he isn't a criminal. Wrong all the way around. I don't even see how people can't see it.

It's great that your husband is learning English and contributing to society, as he should. It's too bad you have a five year old and he has been here so long and not integrated himself so much that he has gotten in line to become a citizen. There ARE visa's for everyone who wants to come here, you just have to apply for them. If he really were a contributing member of our society though, he would do it the right way and stop breaking the law ... doing it your way shows no respect for our country, and even less for your family, because he keeps you in jeopardy every day by being here illegally. Why would a father endanger his wife and child like that? I don't understand the mentality. Even more reason NOT to hand him the keys to the country and send him back home. We need less law breakers and more stand up people. Period.
