the boyfriend has his own house but he is waiting for his slob of a roommate to move out. In the mean time he showers here, she does his laundry, feeds him, etc. I think he should pay a third of the bills. What is fair ?

What is Fair...is the b/f needs to pitch in with money,.. to compensate for a roof over his head, the groceries he's eating, the water he's using, the electricity he's using. I'm thinking a third of the expenses is fair. He's taking advantage of the situation, it's definitely not fair to you that you have to pay the extra when the utilities go up because he's using it also. Tell your room mate to take the love blinders off. Sit down with the two and explain the situation to them. They are taking advantage of the situation. Business is business. He needs to put his third or go home.

I think it is very fair for the roommates boyfriend to pay rent. You should not have to help her take care of her boyfriend. You should tell her to make him pay a third of the bills or make her pay for it since she wants to take care of him.

Either he starts paying rent or your roommate should cough up more money. Extra person in the house means extra expenses means somebody got to pay and it should not be you.

Do you pay for water? probably not.

Does she feed him your food? Probably not.

Is it any of your business that he sleeps in her bed? Absolutely not.

Ask yourself if maybe you are a bit jealous.

He could probably give a couple of bucks for the laundry for the electridity and detergent, but what is 50% of that - $10 if you stretch your imagination? It's not worth asking for.

Just ride it out til his roomate moves. This is a courtesy for you roomate.

No it isn't. Especially if he's eating your food, using your hot water, washing his clothes.......stuff like that. Sounds to me like he's mooching off of you. Tell the roommate he either needs to pay up, it's not fair to you that you've got to support his share. If 3 pay, then it'll free up money for all 3 of you.......again, if he's not a moocher. If he is.......kick him out....immediately. Best of luck to you........
