because they are scummy and instead of being gratefuil for having found a true friend, they can see nothing besides the opportunity to take take take. people suck. it takes ten temporary friends to find yourself one real friend. just run the numbers and try to protect yourself reasonably in the meantime.
and stop giving stuff to people.

They're selfish and self-centered people who do not deserve your time, so don't be generous to people who treat you like this. They're using you and when you put a stop to it, they'll use someone else, but you'll feel much better for not putting up with it. It is NEVER a weakness to be kind, no matter what the outcome. Keep saying no to those who have used you--you are worth more than that!

When you do things for people you do them from your heart.Another person shouldn't be able to determine how kind you are.In the end you'll be bless for doing it from your heart and not looking for a favor in return.If you feel you really need something from someone that you have given things to and they are not there for you in your time of need you forgive but also be wise.

well, when you are doing a favor, the 1st thing is to NEVER expect anything back!!! therefore, if they do return it to you!! you are plesantly surprised. waiting for a pay back is just a big waste of time, to much thimking and wondering . and remmeber, we dont always know whats happening in other people's life!!
