I don't know about any cover-up. I think anyone with a couple of brain cells to spare could see that if we keep treating the planet's resources the way we have been for the last five hundred years or so that it will not be able to sustain all life as we know it including the fertile and growing human race. So I would say that this is an eventuality not a possibility. Hopefully we will as a race wake up and stop destroying the planets ability to sustain us. The thing is that the earth will survive no matter what we do. However we won't. Besides human beings are curious by nature and when we have exhausted all avenues of curiosity on earth we will naturally look to the stars. So no matter what the reason we are going to travel in space and live on other planets......eventually. I do not expect it to happen in my lifetime though.

We need another planet for a few reasons. The biggest reason in my opinion is fusion. There is lot of research going on today in the field of fusion energy. If this becomes our next big energy source we will eventually need fuel that is found outside the earth.
Another reason is that in millions of years the sun is going to enlarge to the point where earth will be uninhabitable. So if humans are still around they will need to live elsewhere.
One more reason is keeping the human race alive. Spreading humans across the galaxy will ensure that the human race will go on even if there is a world war or some terrible disease. Since nuclear bombs and other weapons of mass destruction are so advanced today it is entirely possible that a world war could destroy the entire human race. The bombs dropped in Japan in WWII killed 100,000 to 200,000 instantly. There are bombs today that are 2,000 times larger than the Fat Man bomd used in Nagasaki.

Beyond doubt we will have to. The Earth is a finite resource and scientists have shown that in the distant future the sun will decay into a red dwarf that will expand and consume the earth. Millions of years into the future yet hopefully.

Disasters such as a supervolcanoe or hit from a large space object could cause nuclear winter and the death of all living things. Plague, climate change and a whole host of other things could cause catastrophe. Professor Hawkin has himself said that if man does not go to the planets he may not survive to far into the future.

We, have to find another planet. Some people will be taken from earth and placed there.

I mean this is fact. the population has skyrocketed since the early 1600s. By 2070 or 2080 , this planet will be packed to its everybit. We will be living underwater , on the surface and on nearby edges of space and we have to make artificial stations on almost everyplanet where people will be living. Our resources are limited and population is increasing at a steady pace. I am sure Earth will hold us forever ( till doomsday atleast) but we will expand on to other planets.

Or Terminator 3 thing comes to reality and population is reduced by 90 %.

I certainly hope the first answer is true, but I am beginning to wonder. At least there isn't to much chance the Repub's can make much more of a mess than they have to this point. Things should start getting better soon, they can't screw things up any worse.

Earth is the only planet feasible for human beings. The government, thusfar, knows this. Yes. It is a cover-up to suck more blood from the taxpayers.

I believe we will eventually but not in our lifetime. it will be quite a few thousand yrs till we do need to find another planet to live on.
