Go to a publishing company. As for the illustration, that depends on what kind of book it is. If it is a children's book, then yes. if it is an adult novel,m then no.

Well that's is a small Q with a long answer..
Well send them up to a publisher if you have some thing.
there is a certain code to send an manuscript.
First you select the right publisher, then you mail him tat I have so & so ,this & this , are you intrested ¿.. If yes then send them the manuscript.
Please see wikipedia , or search on google for details..
Well it might take you very long for getting your work published if you are new.....many Pub many reject you..
So what I suggest is that... put a small of your work (from which you don't expect to earn muh) for free !!!
Where -> make PDF or other e-book compatible format & put them up every where. eg: Google scholar etc..
Write here & there. maintain A blog & stuff.
The basic idea is to be know !!!!!!

Because Many great authors were REJECTED many a times before they got their work published.

So if you think that you are very very good at writing & that is alone gonna help. Then you are wrong .. You'll need Luck too.

Speaking of ILLustrations.. well they are always good.
A must in Kids book & I would say any type of book.
But then they say a good author can make an entire movie out of words.. ie: they are so good in writing tat tey need not use pictures..

Hopefully my Answer will help you out (to some extent)

you actually have a better chance of getting a children's book published if you DON'T have illustrations. If you send in a book with the illustrations already, the publisher decides based on the whole thing, and chances are the illustrations won't be what the publisher had in mind. Instead, send in your book without pictures, and if the publisher thinks it has potential, they'll pair you up with one of their regular illustrators to have it done the way they want.

Illustrations are up to you, but it very much depends on the book. I've not seen many illustrations above the "Harry Potter" reading level. As for publishing, you can try submitting your book to publishers on your own, which is tough, since it might or might not even get read. Or you can find an agent, which gives you a better chance, but you want to watch out for scams.

Illustrations aren't really a deciding factor, they are a marginal consideration at the stage when you are trying to get a book published. If you have already created illustrations, or they are an integral part of your book, then ok, you have them. It won't swing things either way, unless your book is a picture book or otherwise essentially visual.

The first step to get a book published is to have a well-written book.

Then you need to query publishers, or query agents who will then query publishers for you once they've taken you on. Broadly speaking, it's best to query publishers who publish books in similar subject areas or genres to your book.

Be prepared for lots of rejection letters on the way to success.

Find out as much as you can about the book business - how publishers and agents work and so on. Have realistic expectations.

In the UK the Writers & Artists Yearbook comes out annually and has lots of essential contact info.

http://misssnark.blogspot.com/ is an agent's blog with info about the publishing business in the USA. There are lots of interesting publishing blogs out there.

You will find lots of good writing/publishing advice here:

(I work in a bookshop, but have no direct experience of the publishing industry. I do know that thousands of new books come out every year, only a few are really successful. I read a lot of publishing blogs & writers blogs).

Good luck with your book.
