With all our accomplishments such as putting people in space we still have not learned the most basic things like how to get along with each other here on earth. History seems to teach us nothing since even after learning of the mistakes made by others in our past we merely end up repeating those mistakes. Also I have wondered if we are not getting so used to being able to read about how to do things or have are questions and concerns answered by others that we are no longer as good as we should be at coming up with are own answers. As more and more people write down what they have learned so that we can swallow that knowledge in pill form, we loose the need and possibly over time the ability to learn for ourselves by our own experiences, you know the hard way. This may cause us to lose our imagination and creative abilities. Honestly the trend now days is to learn something quickly and from someone else who has already learned it. Self - taught individuals are rare, and we can see how effective self education is by looking in history to see who was self educated many of our early presidents were. Even the great Abe Lincoln was a self educated man.

How do you measure Better or Worse?
In technology, we are much better. In Communication, we are much better.
But in 2000, the United Nations passed the Millennium Development Goals. The idea is to make some progress in Development by 2015. When taking a snapshot of our progress in 6 years, the actual measurements show that we are slipping.
Visit http://mdgs.un.org/unsd/mdg/Default.aspx
and Access the status report under the heading "The Millennium Development Goals Report 2006"
We should work together in our own communities to solve these essential problems. This is something that we can be united for.

I believe that the human race needs to evolve into higher order spiritual beings to be able to live and work together in peace. The world population has never been capable of sustaining a peaceful and cooperative coexisitence among their kingdoms or nations. Maybe another extinction-level event on earth will have to occur before that evolution can happen but until whatever time prompts such an enlightenment, a sustainable civilization doesn't appear likely.

I think that we have not yet learned that we are all connected to everyone and everything else through energy vibrations. I think that we have not yet learned that we are all made of the same matter and originate from the same source. I think that we have not yet learned that we are really much closer to each other than we think.
I think that we have not yet learned that individuality is an illusion, and that we are really all part of a collective, who are affected by the thoughts, beliefs, emotions, words and actions of all others, near or far, because each one of these things emits vibrational energy into the universe.
I think that we have not learned that the universal law of attraction ensures that when we emit positive energy we have positive experiences in return and alternatively, when we emit negative, we then experience negative.
I think we have not yet learned that we are really, all ONE.

We haven't learned alot of things...tolerance & unconditional love are two of the big ones that come to mind. Manners seems to be a lost cause too. And so is common sense & respect for another human being or any form of life seems to be missing in today's society too. In some ways I guess civilization is getting better...more people seem to be learning a few things. And in alot of ways it's getting worse. Just my opinion.

Getting worse of course.....in all world history...as far back as we know, there has been a dominant society that mistreats all others but itself, expoits world resourses, and this goes on for many many years...perhaps a chance to change. when this society does not learn to share and consider everyone together it continues to decay morally.
then there is some kind of catastrophe that totally decimates the dominant society or relegates them to the bottom of the pile,,,Pompeii, Romans, British Empire,,,,for just a few....guess who's turn comes next????

Compassion is a word that comes to mind.We are all in such a hurry to better ourselves and our surroundings that we don't step back and see what consequence we have left behind. We don't care about the genocides that are taking place around the world or the aids epidemic in Africa or the poverty because there is nothing in it for us.Very Sad really.

I don't think there has been any improvements in the human race. We are still animals in a world of "eat or be eaten". It's a shame that we think we have come so far only to find ourselves in the same place as those who came before us.

Disagreement breeds discussion, which finds the truth.
If everyone were to agree on everything, judging on mankind's history, we'd be wrong most of the time
