Everything you do and are can and will affect your career. Unless you work in a secluded environment where all contact is done through email, looks will make a difference. This is not to say an ugly person will be less successful at a particular business than an attractive one. Sometimes the opposite may be true, a lot is in dependence to your boss and his or her past experiences and current preferences. Needless to say looking professional makes the real difference, not necessarily having inherited good looks. Take care of yourself. Stay groomed and try to pick up an excercise routine if you have the time(this will also lower stress). Dress appropriately or better for your job, do something with your hair, tuck in those shirts and take care of your shoes. Your boss will notice your efforts to look professional and see you as such. Combine a professional look, with continuous effort and upbeat, CONFIDENT attitude, and you will be guarunteed success. If this does not work for you, you need to move on and find a boss with more intelligence

Not all. Go for the internet business which require less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business where all the things are automated. Third, choose the business which does not require big money to start it. Think again, when you are earning money from the internet, you have the chance to get rid from an income tax.

Danny ..the answer is defineatly "yes"
I was overweight and since i lost weight I get more interviews and sometimes better jobs.
But, saying that I worked as a personnel officer for a large security company and interviewed a very confident blonde woman that was a single mother but worked in the "enterainment" industry overseas. She wore a blouse that was unbuttoned and tight clothes for the interview. The only place I could speak to her was using another office. I kept the door open and informed a female employee i was interviewing her in another office. Most of our offices had glass partitions so you could see the occupant. She was leaning forward and often would try and touch my hand, and did her best to turn the interview around to suit herself. She came for one position and clearly wanted to be at another area. the end of the story I didnt employ her. The reason?... Her looks firstly and then her attitude. She used her looks to influence my desision to be employed in the area she wanted, not where the vacancy was.
So in answer to your question, it does, but its also the presentation of the applicant on the day and the type of work. But it can backfire. Equal opportunity is a scale that isnt that equal in balance of the outcome.
Good luck in what you are looking for career wise

Yes they do. A person who is well groomed and clean cut with good manners will have a much better chance of being taken more seriously. Someone with a lot of body piercings, tattoos, and clothes that do not fit properly are usually laughed at when they fill out an application for a serious job that pays well. Think about how you would want someone to look and act if they were representing your business.

In the reality of life... the good looking are easily hired!!! But about success in his career it depends in his capability. If you aren't good looking but talented there are so many jobs now like the call center, in a computer company or be a medical transcriptionist. Of course, say for example in a hotel or resraurant business, the employees must have a pleasing personality coz they will be facing a lot of guests.

appearence is the first thing people see and then the way you present your self in conversation is the next. the reason people has interviews is to one show how you dress and then two how you present yourself and then 3 how you talk in your conversation and most of the time your conversation will be passed on the job and in your conversation if you talk really well and you talk of the job with alot of knowledge behind it then more then likely you will get the job but if you look good but you talk like you have no idea what the job is about then 95% of the time you wont get the job

Yes, it is a proven fact. A person is usually chosen for a position first by appearance and then by knowledge. That is why you must have an interview for most jobs. You could be a genius, but if you don't look the part don't expect to get the part.
