Actually, both (a) and (b)

Humans will colonize space and then all the resources will be transferred to space or used to support space colonies and those left behind will die off.

First of all we need to define what a human is. One could be amazed by the outcome of the meaning after thought full contemplation. The real humans will probably escape Armageddon together with the cornerstone of the Internet Yahoo Answers and the Robot ship from Anywhere but this Solar system... Colonization? My luck usually runs out in the wrong places at the wrong time., and do I share an escape pod with a slug.

Space is really big. Like, really really big. So big that it boggles the mind. So big that a probe launched 40-odd years ago has only recently breached our solar system (1 out of a couple million in our galaxy). That said, there isn't anything close by that is worth colonizing (sci-fi scenarios regarding Mars aside), and even if there is a viable spot a few systems over, it would simply take way too long to get there.
No species has been around forever. Why would we be any different?

First of all, Trevor Institute, I'm reluctant to answer in light of the hostile takeover of the Kevin Institute. The KI was doing good work, and it remains to be seen whether or not the TI will continue in that vein. Second, why is this an either/or question? Respondents might think both (a) and (b) could happen -- or neither. Nevertheless, it makes sense to base one's predictions of the future on observations of the past, and so I think (a) is more likely, because humans tend to be colonizing survivors.

likely so even though it relies upon on how a techniques the planet is and how a techniques we are in words of technologies. If we are dimwits and have not made any progression in advancing in technologies, we are DOOMED. even as the sunlight turns right into a pink large, the earth will both get swallowed up or will somewhat get away. although, all existence will perish. So, if we are able to discover planet with a important environment, gravity, rigidity, and the gap between it and the figure well known human being, and we are able to commute at severe speed, lets make it. Einstein's theory of relativity signifies that the speedier we commute, slower the time will bypass. as an celebration, if we commute at severe speeds, it will be a million 365 days for the man travelling at severe speeds, even though it will be 10 years to human beings. So, like i reported, it relies upon on how a techniques the planet is and how a techniques we are in words of technologies.

I think that, in a power race to establish dominance on Earth, the prominent nations will leap on each other like starving vultures on a stinking carcass. And then, when the dust settles and mankind pokes its head out of hiding, we will have found that emus of a nuclear bent have taken over the world and have found a way to interbreed with hippos. And I think everyone will agree with me when I say that this is not a good idea.

a and b

While it is very likely life on earth will not continue for much longer, there should be enough time to colonise other planets, to a certain extent. How well we fare is dependent on how long we can keep earth functioning
