HUndreds of thousands died in battles by the sword, whats the differance?
If you look into an account of an actual battle they were horrific, if you were lucky enough to survive your injuries were horrific and they had nothing for the pain.

The Right to Bear Arms enshrined in the Constitution of the United States of America was only ever meant to allow people to carry swords, the Founders never anticipated mass production and the evolution of firearms. Blame George Washington.

nice idea. But i think in ancient times people didn't get on jsut as much as today, they just didn't have a trigger to pull to make people die, they needed training to use a weapon, plus they couldn't find one if they were peasants. But, it does mean that the trained warriros often could do what they want, as well as the physically strong, which is hardly a better system.
However, if those that really wanted to do harm had to spend so long to get there and face their opponent and look in their eyes then there may well be a lot less death.

Whats the difference between guns and swords? They will both kill you in the end.
The world sucks because we have guns and swords and atomic bombs, it sucks because we dont look out for each other but oppose each others views. It sucks because of all the wars and terrorism!

Not certain about the questions, but yes, there was a time when people used swords.
This was not nesscarily a less violent time..in fact it was a hell of lot bloodier. If you do wish to visit this time, check your area for Ren Faires...a few of us are still swinging steel :)
